1. Spartacus (Restored Edition) [Blu-Ray] (1960)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: As a film, Spartacus seems erratic and occasionally wearying, but it offers quite a few solid moments, most of which came due to some terrific supporting performances from the film’s antagonists. The movie also picks up as it progressed, and much of its most satisfying material takes place during its final act. Starring Kirk Douglas, Laurence Olivier.

5. Paths Of Glory: Criterion Collection [Blu-Ray] (1957)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: While not as well-regarded as Stanley Kubrick’s more famous films from the 1960s and 1970s, I think 1957’s Paths of Glory deserves to be viewed as one of the director’s best effort. It offers one of his most provocative and stimulating films. The Blu-ray gives us very good picture and audio as well as a decent collection of extras highlighted by an exce

6. Spartacus [Blu-Ray] (1960)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: (C)oncerns make it very tough for me to recommend this Blu-ray to fans. No, Spartacus didn’t look awful, but it gave us a transfer far inferior to what we should have received. Until/unless Universal fixes this disappointing presentation, fans should just stick with their DVDs, especially if they already own the Criterion edition from 2001. Starring Kir

7. Saturn 3 [Blu-Ray] (1980)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Though not without potential, Saturn 3 ends up as a dull dud. It borrows too much from other sci-fi films of its era and lacks any drama or intrigue. The Blu-ray presents pretty good picture and audio along with a nice set of supplements. I can’t recommend this dated, dopey sci-fi effort. Starring Farrah Fawcett, Kirk Douglas. Shout! Factory, $26.99, 12/

9. Last Train from Gun Hill (Paramount Presents Edition) [Blu-Ray] (1959)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: A clever and intriguing twist on the genre, Last Train from Gun Hill offers a solid Western. It creates a tight, engaging 95 minutes of drama. Starring Kirk Douglas, Anthony Quinn. Paramount, $24.99, 6/15/2021.

10. One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest: Collector's Edition [Blu-Ray] (1975)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: While I remain unconvinced that One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest deserved the Best Picture award for 1975, it remains a very fine piece of filmmaking. Occasionally it falls into some traps, but it usually stays compelling and provocative, and it also offers consistently excellent acting. The Blu-ray provides average picture quality, fairly good audio and
